This White House is so dirty and crooked it’s enough to make a person scream. Clinton broke the law, and if you have authority for enforcing the laws of the land and break them, then impeachment is a just punishment. The WSJ made that point 7 years ago. In that time, they’ve turned idealism to idealogy, taking a nearly Stalinesque stance to justify perjury as a “minor” crime. This was the same crime that Clinton was ultimately punished for; White House advisors deserve no less punishment for such a serious crime.
Comic Books: Maus
I keep seeing lists and stories about comics, typically on a “these are the literati of the hoi poloi in comic books” bent or a “this list is the all-time greatest story” event. I’m chalking it up to the comic book divisions of these media conglomerates demanding equal marketing time in the non-stories of the various media sources that are publishing them. Not so much in terms of stories, but just in terms of that godawful marketing word mindspace; these large companies are producing comics and want to put the word into the mindspace of people next to the word “legitimate non-infantile media.”
Comicbook Review: Samurai Executioner
The first 330 page book starts at the beginning, and shows three examples of the conflicted nature of Yamada Asaemon in all its gory detail. This comic isn’t for the feint of heart, and it might not be for the seekers of blood, either. Each story is a rumination on ancient morals, codes of honor, and blood. Lots of blood and body parts, more so than in a standard horror comic. Wertham turns over in his grave at Dark Horse’s latest publication.
